Tearing
into waste! - By David Hakala, Sm@rt Partner,
Meet the ASP that ended Dow Corning's documentation
nightmare. While its products are based on silicone, Dow
Corning moves lots of paper. The chemical giant maintains
more than 5,000 pieces of printed literature, from
business cards and corporate brochures to product spec
sheets and order forms. Many of these printed assets are
distributed in several languages...

The
Eastern U.S. Keeps Its Cool - NASA Science News,
While surface temperatures across most of the globe are on
the rise, the eastern U.S. appears to be slowly cooling.
Scientists say the trend could be a result of increasing
cloud cover triggered by warming Pacific waters. Much of
the Earth has warmed over the last half-century, but the
eastern half of the United States has shown a cooling
trend. NASA-funded research indicates cooler temperatures
in the eastern U.S. are caused by an increase in
sun-shielding clouds produced by warmer ocean temperatures
in the Pacific...

Precocious
Earth - NASA Science News, Tiny zircon crystals
found in ancient stream deposits suggest that Earth
harbored continents and liquid water remarkably soon after
our planet formed. Scientists are drawing a portrait of
how Earth looked soon after it formed 4.56 billion years
ago, based on clues within the oldest mineral grains ever
found...

Retreat
of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet - NASA Science
News, Scientists say that the West Antarctic Ice Sheet is
retreating more slowly than they thought. In fact, it may
have been growing just 8,000 years ago -- long after the
end of the most recent Ice Age. New evidence suggests that
the West Antarctic Ice Sheet is retreating more slowly and
contributing less to rising global sea levels than
scientists once thought. In fact, said researchers at a
recent meeting, the sheet was still growing as recently as
8,000 years ago -- thousands of years after the most
recent Ice Age...
