The American Coastal Coalition

American Coastal Coalition-ACC is a national membership organization composed of governmental entities, government officials, business people, academics, national and regional interest groups and advocacy organizations, property owners' associations, individual coastal community residents, and others. American Coastal Coalition-ACC is a national membership organization composed of governmental entities, government officials, business people, academics, national and regional interest groups and advocacy organizations, property owners' associations, individual coastal community residents, and others.

It has been organized to serve as the voice of the nation's coastal communities in Washington, D.C. ACC's goals are to preserve the role of the federal government in shore protection; support policies and programs which promote travel and tourism to coastal regions of the United States; promote the preservation, protection and restoration of sandy beaches along America's coastline, including the Great lakes; foster public understanding of the importance of well-maintained beaches to the national economy and to national disaster protection policy; and support these objectives in an environmentally - and fiscally-sound manner.

The Coalition serves as the liaison with the House and Senate Coastal Caucuses as well as with other Members of Congress, Executive Branch officials, and allied private sector interests. It has received federal tax-exempt status as an advocacy organization under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. It is governed by a Board of Directors, an appointed President, a Vice President, and a Secretary-Treasurer. While ACC will represent the diversity of those interests concerned about preservation of coastal communities, it acts in close coordination with existing organizations in order to maximize its effectiveness and avoid duplication of effort.
