Arrest made in Deer Point Lake Murder

Investigators arrested 24 year old Ronald Travis Ross with an open count of Murder. They say the man found dead is 43-year old Cesar Pacheco of Panama City.

Investigators say the two men met up at Tan Fannies early Saturday morning. Ross offered to give Pacheco a ride home, and the two ended up at Deer Point Lake Park where they started fighting.

body awaiting transportSheriff’s deputies say Ross attacked Pacheco then threw him over the sea wall into the lake. Jennifer Collins of the Bay County Sheriffs Department said the victim was severely beaten and thrown into the Lake. At this point it’s not sure whether he was deceased when he was thrown into the lake or that it happened after he got into the water. An Autopsy of Mr. Pacheco’s body will help clear that up.

This isn’t the first time Ross has been in trouble. He just got released from prison in late January where he’d been serving time for several burglary convictions.

Investigators still aren’t sure why Ross and Pacheco ended up at Deer Point Lake or why they got into a fight.
