ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 1999--AirTran (Nasdaq:AAIR - news) is offering 10 percent discounts for travel to most destinations for customers who book their travel online at http://www.airtran.com/. The discounted fares apply for travel between any destination, systemwide, and one of the following cities: Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Fort Walton Beach, Gulfport/Biloxi, Jacksonville, Miami, New Orleans, Orlando, Savannah and Tampa. Fares apply for travel through December 16, 1999, and tickets must be purchased on the site by August 29, 1999.

``Since we recently received accolades from Travel Agent magazine for our online booking engine, this presents a great opportunity for people to experience our award winning site and to save money on late summer and early fall travel,'' said Kevin Healy, vice president of planning for the airline. ``Using www.airtran.com, passengers can make travel arrangements with ease and the confidence of knowing that they received the best price.''

In addition to this special Internet promotion, AirTran offers tremendous discounted one-way fares to different destinations on tickets purchased through Net Escapes - weekly promotional fares offered exclusively on the airline's web site posted every Tuesday. Customers may sign up to receive free weekly Net Escapes updates via e-mail on the E-fares section of AirTran's web site, or the fares can be viewed on the Net Escapes page.

AirTran operates over 135 daily departures from Atlanta, the ``World's Busiest Airport,'' as designated by Airports Council International.

AirTran provides everyday, affordable air travel throughout the eastern United States and Midwest. Currently operating a fleet of 49 jet aircraft, AirTran is the launch customer for the new Boeing 717 with a firm order of 50 aircraft and options for another 50. Delivery is scheduled to commence in September. AirTran is a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq:AAIR - news).

Rules and restrictions: Discounted fares are not available between November 24-29, 1999. All fares are one-way. All fares are non-refundable, and a $50 per person fee applies to any change made after purchase plus any applicable increase in airfare. All travel must be completed by December 16, 1999. Net Escapes are only available for purchase on AirTran's web site. Seats are limited, subject to availability and may not be available on all flights.
