Readiness Challenge winners announced

TYNDALL AFB, Fla. (AFNS) -- Air Force announced winners of its elite engineering and services competition, Readiness Challenge V, April 13 during an awards ceremony here.

The biennial Readiness Challenge competitions demonstrate engineering and services warfighting and readiness skills. The event promotes readiness and interoperability of forces establishing and sustaining air base operations in a forward combat environment. The skills, technology and equipment displayed are integral parts of the Air Force's total force package and help provide global presence and necessary warfighting force by providing improved flexibility, persistence, responsiveness, survivability, and economy of force.

Winners in each award category were:

Meredith Trophy for top team: U.S. Air Force Academy, 10th Air Base Wing, Colo.

First runner-up: Air Force Special Operations Command, 16th Special Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field, Fla.

Second runner-up: Air Force Materiel Command, 96th Air Base Wing, Eglin AFB, Fla.

Ellis Trophy for top competitor:

SMSgt. John Seely, USAFA, 10th ABW.

Maj. Gen. James E. McCarthy Readiness Trophy: AFSOC, 16th SOW, Hurlburt Field.
