Predictable Scare Tactics...
May 05, 2001
I supported Bill Readdy
because he opposed building a conference center with
public funds. I still agree with him that the whole
county should get to vote on this issue. I also agree
that our commissioners should work with the state
legislature to allow the use of tourist tax dollars to
improve the infrastructure. But he is naive to advocate
preserving the current TDC as a way to achieve these
goals (Preserve
TDC! NW Florida Daily News 2 May, 2001).
For the past two years
we have been begging our commissioners to hold a
countywide referendum on the conference center. We have
been ignored, ridiculed, and opposed with TDC dollars.
Why does he believe they will listen if this referendum
is defeated?
And why does he believe
they will be more willing to share the “golden eggs”
with our infrastructure? All they have done the past two
years is change the law to protect the bond issue from
an unfavorable referendum.
Regarding replacing
commissioners, we have already replaced two. Three more
are political toast. We must reverse the damage they
have already done and stop them from doing more.
The “golden goose”
has soiled our living room rug and must be put outside
and its caretaker replaced.
Vote YES.
