SofTech, Inc. Announces Launch of MicroCadamMigration.com

Thursday October 19, 5:45 pm Eastern Time
Press Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 19, 2000--SofTech, Inc. (Nasdaq:SOFT - news) announced today the launch of www.MicroCadamMigration.com, a website devoted to assisting MICRO CADAM users with their migration from CADAM Systems Company's (CSC) products.

CSC and its subsidiary, MICRO CADAM, Inc., abandoned their customers when they announced in May of 2000 the withdrawal of their products from the worldwide marketplace for ``economic considerations''.

On May 31, 2000, SofTech announced its comprehensive MICRO CADAM Migration Plan as a commitment to MICRO CADAM users. The new website expands SofTech's commitment to making a smooth transition path for MICRO CADAM users.

MicroCadamMigration.com offers a variety of resources including free 2D file translations, white papers, discussion groups for users to talk about the transition, software downloads, and evaluation software. There is an ``Ask the Expert'' section for users to ask all those unanswered questions.

The site exploits Cadra(TM) Design Drafting technology as its translation engine. Cadra has migrated over 3.5 million MICRO CADAM/CADAM files. With over 17 years experience, customers have been able to preserve the investment in existing and legacy data and minimize training requirements. Cadra has a long history of providing an open path to other systems through CadraDirect, its line of robust direct interfaces. Cadra has direct interfaces to MICRO CADAM, CADAM, PRO-CADAM, CCD, CADDS, AutoCAD DWG/DXF and IGES files.

SofTech recently demonstrated its migration solution at the MICRO CADAM User Group Meeting in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. ``Over 25 companies test drove our software, and their reaction was unanimously positive,'' states Tim Weatherford, SofTech's Vice President of Sales. ``SofTech has the only true 2D replacement strategy that does not have a 3D axe to grind. Cadra provides the only fully supported, continuously developed 2D migration option. We read MICRO CADAM/CADAM files directly into Cadra, and demonstrated the additional features that our Cadra technology provides. In addition to providing a very clean and rock solid migration solution for the MICRO CADAM users, we also demonstrated our recently introduced DesignGateway technology.''

DesignGateway(TM) bridges the gap between 3D solid models and 2D design and drafting making users productive in both environments. This enabling technology reads solid model files from Catia, SolidWorks, PRO/Engineer, SDRC I-DEAS, Unigraphics, and thinkdesign. Users can view and rotate solid models to their desired orientation, automatically drop the geometry into Cadra with the proper orientation and views, create cross sections from solid models, and much more. DesignGateway is not only useful to the 2.0 million mechanical/manufacturing engineers but also to departments outside of engineering that have not had access to engineering information before.

SofTech's Migration Solution focuses on Cadra(TM) and DesignGateway(TM), which offer a full set of solutions. Cadra reads and writes existing data, has a short learning curve, and provides high-end mechanical design features. It gives customers more productivity than MICRO CADAM Helix with virtually no disruptions to their day-to-day operations.
