Teens Accused of Stockpiling Weapons

PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - Six teen-agers have been arrested on charges of stealing
and then stockpiling an arsenal of weapons and ammunition, including armor-piercing
bullets, firearms and bayonets. The boys, ages 14 to 18, are suspected of taking 140
rounds of armor-piercing ammunition, 3,500 rounds of Russian and Romanian-made ammunition,
three firearms and two bayonets from one house, and six guns from another.
``It's very scary that 16-year-olds would be in possession of one round, much
less 4,000 rounds,'' Escambia County sheriff's investigator Steve Hardy said Tuesday.
They were arrested recently after investigators found the weaponry buried in the
woods and hidden on vacant lots. They were being held without bond.
The teens told investigators they were part of the Folk Nation gang and were
going to use the weapons for gang-related activity. Authorities did not specify what
plans the group may have had. Investigators learned about the stockpiled weapons
after the recent arrest of Nicholas Andrew Davis, 16, on a warrant for failing to appear
in court.
An affidavit said Davis agreed to cooperate with investigators and that Davis
said he and Allan L. Richardson, 18, and Cameron S. Griggers and Kamal R. Davis, both 17 -
had broken into a home sometime July 18 and July 20. Authorities did not release the names
of the other two teen-agers because of their age.
On Aug. 1, according to another affidavit, Nicholas Davis and Kamal Davis, who
are not related, burglarized another home, breaking into a gun safe and taking six guns.
Officials expect to find more firearms as part of their investigation, and more
arrests are expected.
