2 Girls Charged In Road Rage Attack

DALE CITY, Va. (AP) - Two teen-age girls are accused of killing a 25-year-old mother by pounding her head on the pavement in front of her children because she complained that their car was blocking the road.

Teresa Hattie Dixon, 18, was charged with aggravated malicious wounding in the attack on Natalie Davis. The charge was lodged prior to Ms. Davis' death.

The identity of the other girl was withheld because she is 16.   ``It was a heinous and senseless crime,'' said prosecutor Paul Ebert, who said he intends to seek murder charges.

The attack happened Tuesday night while Ms. Davis, her children, ages 2 and 4, and four other relatives were driving to church. She died Thursday.

A car was blocking the road out of the cul-de-sac where they lived, and about five girls were gathered around talking. Ms. Davis asked the teens to move the car, though the driver of Ms. Davis' car eventually managed to get around.

Two teens jumped into another car and followed the family after they passed, Sgt. Kim Chinn said. After a short distance, Ms. Davis and one of the pursuers got out of their cars and exchanged words.  It was unclear who threw the first punch, but the teen-ager grabbed Ms. Davis by the hair and pounded her head on the pavement, Chinn said. A second teen stomped on her head and kicked her in the face, police said.

One of Ms. Davis' relatives flagged down a police officer.
