February 02 2004 - Intel cranks out new Pentium 4 - By John G. Spooner, CNET News.com, Intel on Monday served up a large helping of megahertz with five new Pentium 4 processors for desktop PCs. The new Pentium 4s, which are expected to spawn a number of new desktop PC models, include three chips based on a fresh processor design, code-named Prescott. Intel also is adding two new versions of its current Pentium 4, dubbed Northwood. A sixth chip, running at 3.4GHz, will be announced Monday, but it won't be available until later in the quarter...

February 20 2004 - DVD copying software ruled illegal - Judge orders sales to halt; company to appeal, The Associated Press, LOS ANGELES - A federal judge ruled Friday that a software program that copies DVDs illegally violates the copyrights of Hollywood studios. Judge Susan Illston ruled in San Francisco that software made by Chesterfield, Mo.-based 321 Studios violates the 1998 Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which prohibits the circumvention of anti-piracy measures such as the Content Scramble System protecting movies on DVDs...

By tracking these exploding stars, astronomers can trace the expansion rate of the universe, and determine how it is affected by dark energy., By Robert Roy Britt, Senior science writer, Recent Hubble Space Telescope images of distant exploding stars add further confirmation to the permanence of a mysterious, repulsive force called dark energy that appears to dominate the universe. While scientists are not ready to close the case, they said today that dark energy, which is thought to permeate the cosmos and work in opposition to gravity, does appear to be a constant presence as predicted...
