If you want to increase tourist trade, find a better way for them to get here other than Highway 98, the mid bay bridge cut Fort Walton off from the tourist, why go thru Fort Walton Beach, you have a straight shot from the interstate to Destin and South Walton. Should something be happening in good ole Fort Walton you have a good old fashion traffic jam from the wonderful Brooks Bridge back to Destin from the East side and them West almost to Navarre. The truth is the County Commission is a joke, they live in a fairly tail, the Truth is, Fort Walton Beach CAN'T handle the traffic of increased tourist!!!!!! Because of the foresight of the commission, Fort Walton Beach is OUT OF THE MAIN FLOW of the TOURIST TRAFFIC, which tells me that we have a very small tourism economy, you can't lose something you already lost!!!!!!! Fort Walton CAN'T with its tourist trade CANNOT HANDLE another traffic jam that would be created by a MEMORIAL to some local BIG NAME FAMILY, we already have streets, parks, schools and towns that are named after them. Why not give some consideration for the people that live her year round and pay taxes to support the area? I live here, I don't need a convention center and none of my friends need or want one either. The only people that do are involved in money government!!!!!!!!! When all is said and done, if it is built, the people that live here will pay for it NOT the people that use it, and the people that pay for it will not benefit from it, unless another TRAFFIC JAM is considered to be a benefit!!!!!!!
