The Freedom Forum Re: Money Pit?From: CommentsCarl, did you read the article about the "Money Pit"? Traffic will empty onto Highway 98, that out dated road and the two outdated bridges. Who are they going to hire to run this circus, an expense, who's going to maintain it when the crowds don't show, an expense. And now we're building a new government building downtown, give me a break, they need people down town to pay taxes, you want support the "Pit" with book rentals, how much will that card cost, I can buy the books cheaper at the Money Monger (Wal-Mart) . That land on the island should be a nature park for the people of Okaloosa County and Fort Walton Beach, give the people of the county a place to play, hell, they took the beach and gave it to the tourist and developers!!!!!!! Can you see 2,500 people leaving a convention center on the island and jumping onto Highway 98, guess it's time to move to Crestview, have access to Highway 90 and Interstate 10. Will it be the Mattie Kelly Center, Pryor Center or what? In either case, it will NOT BENEFIT the people of the county or the residence on the island or the good people of Fort Walton Beach or Destin! Why not build it in Navarre, you have Old 98 going west, 98 going East and West, and Highway 87, which is in the process of being improved going north. ______ Last changed: March 04, 2008
