"Kuwait
Series" - by Gaylan King
Contents:
We were all over Baghdad last night with our Iraqi business partners. They are a wealthy family of very gracious people, and I get real insight from our long conversations. I could live up here; it reminds me of Laos, in 1970, when I was working for the CIA and Laos was full of every kind of player. The situation is very similar- Iraq is the biggest and only game in town for those who seek that environment. Our hotel is filled with every conceivable kind of person; people just like you. But, they're here, by choice, and loving it. I listened to CNN news this morning and had to keep asking myself what they were talking about. We are protecting a DOD big wig who is here to start the $75 Million project to bring more water to the city and add additional power to the city grid. We're taking him to 20 different cites. I bought 2 brand new Beretta submachine guns last night and got them licensed for my men; I carry an AK47 and a 9MM pistol. I have enjoyed this trip immensely and will write more soon.
