TDC shows true
character, or lack of it, with the "Yes" button debacle...
It's not the money, it's the point that they are arrogant enough to be so
careless of our rights. Public servants, PHOOEY!!!
Rick Deckert said they almost let the Chambers of Commerce pay for the buttons,
as if that would be clean money. The TDC spends $40,000 per year for Chamber
fealty! Then the Zimmerman Agency was mentioned as a source for the "pin
money." That family has had the TDC advertising contract ($1Million PLUS per
year) from the beginning. When I said, in an interview, that, "to my knowledge,
that contract had never been open to biding," Darrell Jones replied that it had
been bid THREE times! DUH!! How about the other SEVEN times, Darrell?
Those are the very "Yes" buttons that people were shoving into my face
INSIDE the building hosting the County Commission meeting which approved the Bed Tax
increase of 100% to fund the Conference Center. When I refused to take one, I got a
SEVERE FROWN from the Chamber person who offered it. Whoever allowed that circus
into that meeting should be publicly flogged. The Opposition also hooted down some
of the speakers. Oh well, you can't buy CLASS.
No citizen should feel intimidated while attending such a meeting; NEVER!
Cheers!
